Abbas Jaan, also known as Mr. AJ Memes, has been serving as a comedian in the Facebook community, sharing humorous content with a family of more than two hundred thousand. However, little do people know how his career started and how he made it into the meme community.
Laughter is often considered as a glimpse into one’s inner world, an amusing expression of joy and humor. However, behind the façade of smiles and contagious laughter, individuals carry hidden burdens, struggles, and complexities that we may not realize. In the world of comedy, where people bring us joy and happiness, there exists a deeper, often untold story of their own life’s uncertainties, reminding us that humor can be both a shield and a disguise for the complexities of human experience.
The inspirational story begins from Abbas Jaan’s college years when he unintentionally fell in love with a girl in his class. According to him, it was a platonic friendship where both had an understanding and a comfortable space between them. He started hinting at something from the other side, which he mistakenly judged and did not end as well as Abbas Jaan thought it would.
College ended, and there was a communication barrier. The girl stopped responding to any of his messages, which broke Abbas’s heart, and soon started exhibiting signs of depression. He dealt with depression for a year while having high blood pressure, which he was ridiculed and mocked for. This not only made his blood pressure and depression worse but also made it difficult for him to communicate his feelings to someone.
Amid dealing with his feelings and recovering slowly and gradually COVID-19 was a very depressing and difficult phase for some of us to deal with. When Abbas started surfing the internet and interacting with people around him, he realized how miserable and unhappy people were.
He felt the urge to spread joy and one day had an idea to randomly pick up a template, make a meme, and share it with one of the meme groups. The response to it was not what he expected, but people started liking it, sharing it with their friends, and, most importantly, it made people laugh.
He continued making memes for 9 to 10 months and kept sharing them on different meme groups, and the response was overwhelming. Abbas enjoyed the feeling of spreading happiness and joy among people when they were feeling at their lowest.
Therefore, he decided to continue this because he knew how it felt to be in a state of depression. Just so he could motivate others and give them a reason to smile a bit more, he created his own Facebook profile, now known as Mr. AJ Memes, where he started uploading his work.
The turning point of his career was when he created a meme from a well-known television show, Har Lamha Purjosh, of a renowned host, Wasim Badami. In the first episode, Wasim called Shaista Lodhi and Sahir Lodhi, well-known television actors and hosts, and Abbas included them in the meme. He uploaded it on a Facebook meme group, but he did not get as much reach as he did on his page. The views he got on the video were about one million and 50,000 likes, which blew his mind away.
He started staying up late to make sure that the content he created and uploaded was original and up to the expectations of the audience. He faced many hurdles, but it never stopped him. He started staying awake till 4 or 5 am. in the morning, creating 6 to 7 memes a day.
Despite how life and people treated him, Abbas Jaan never felt a reason to be ungrateful or lose hope in living life in a better way. People like Abbas Jaan and their complex human experiences motivate other individuals to be optimistic about better things coming their way.
Abbas Jaan’s story also reminds us to be humble to other people who are constantly dealing with problems. Each person’s life has a unique story filled with both comedic moments and profound struggles. We can offer empathy and support to those who make us laugh and perhaps find a more profound connection through a shared understanding of their hidden tales and the resilience that underlies their ability to bring joy to our lives.
