Who is Muhammad Omer Khan?
Muhammad Omer Khan, an entrepreneur, a technologist, an IT mentor, and a gold medalist, was not always a famous person. In fact, he was just an ordinary student completing his bachelor’s degree in computer sciences from Bahria University Karachi in the year 2008-2011. Omer always had this unique passion for starting his own business and being an entrepreneur.
Start of Omer’s Journey
Omer’s passion led him to open up his first startup right after his graduation, named IP ITXtraSol, which was situated on the eleventh floor of a building called Crown Plaza. Along with his job in the morning at UBL Bank Ltd, Omer looked after his startup. Soon, Omer realized that he needed to learn skills at the enterprise level in order to make the apps that were of high quality and had great resilience. After six months, ITXtraSol, Omer’s first startup, whom he treated like his own baby, was shut down as it required more skills and expertise expertiseand extreme law and order situation of Country especially in Karachi.
Beginning of success (Danat)
The closure of Omer’s first startup brought him loads of new opportunities. One of which was the offer by a Dubai-based company named “Danat” which is owned by Argaam. In 2013, Omer joined DANAT FZ LLC, where he learned new things, such as working on interactive charts, which was challenging work for him as he had never done it before. After working for a year, Omer had this golden opportunity when he got a chance to collaborate with the CEO of CEO & Managing Director. He availed that opportunity, and in 2014, with the help of only four people, a branch of DANAT FZ LLC was opened in Karachi, and the rest is history. DANAT FZ LLC became super successful. Start of Bits Collision:
In 2015, after DANAT FZ LLC was mature and settled, Omer decided to start another startup, which was already registered back in 2013 but was not official yet, The Bits Collision. In the beginning, there was no work for Omer and his team to do. He and Bit Collision survived through small projects worth 50 or 100 dollars that they earned through websites like Freelancer and Upwork.
Omer is the epitome of never giving up. He started to market his web, Bit Collision locally by spreading pamphlets on the street of Saddar Market. He himself roamed around the streets of Karachi, pitching every shop of the Abdullah Haroon Road to earn his services. Even after trying for several days, there was no lead or project for Omer and the team. He did not give up and actively kept searching for different opportunities. Until one day, he found a Saudi client whose idea was aligning with Omer’s product. They had a collaboration, and OYAH was introduced. It was a social E-Commerce platform that helped people to order, dine in, and review.
Blessings of Oyah:
Oyah played the role of lucky charm in Omer’s life as it opened the doors of new opportunities for him. After Oyah, his next project, Wellmo, was successful, too. Wellmo and Oyah are so successful that they have become separate entities now.
Development of Coinage:
In 2020, Omer came up with another application, which was a Bahrain-based application named Coinage. Bits Collision has successfully delivered its MVP product. After successful launched of the MVP, Coinage renamed to FASSET, raised 21 million dollars.
Not only this, Omer made several other appssuch as InstaKin, which raised 10 Million Dollars from YCombinator, MAGUSAI which also raised the funds of 1 million dollars from Dubai-based Venture Capitalist.
Empowering other Developers:
After making loads of applications and earning years of experience, Omer decided to help other students, to provide the help that he had never received. And to do so, he connected himself with several Universities of Karachi. Where he tried to learn about the problems that students were facing. Moreover, he arranged awareness programs in different universities such as Ilma, SMI, etc.
In 2017, a batch of students who were in their 5th semester of Computer Science degree came across Omer; as they had zero knowledge of programming, Omer decided to help them. He arranged learning classes for them on the roof of his own house; not only this, but he also taught them about the latest technological developments and took the entire batch to company visits to help them understand it more easily. Currently, those students who have zero knowledge related to programming are team leads in different organizations. All credit goes to none other but their mentor, Muhammad Omer Khan.
Muhammad Omer Khan is undoubtedly a youth icon, a person who inspires millions of people today through his hardworking and motivational story. He is someone the young tech generation would look up to, and will surely try to follow his footsteps.
