They taught Kehkashan that not only speaking is important, but proper understanding and proficiency in Urdu are also important. Kehkashan Bukhari learned in the first month of training what the boundaries were that she could not cross during reporting. Moreover, she also learned what were the terminologies and words that should be used when reporting. After some time, Kehkashan Bukhari decided that now she was ready to report and asked her bureau chief to allow her to report. It was a new experience for Kehkashan Bukharia it was her first time reporting.
Kehkashan Bukhari First Reporting
Her first reporting spot was a dirty watercourse, where she had to report some unpicked garbage. Being a girl, reporting on the streets of Pakistan was kind of a challenge, as the environment was not so friendly for her as compared to the male reporters. This was how Kehkashan’s journey started.
Kehkashan Bukhari always wanted to do something new apart from traditional reporting. This was the reason her report, where she covered a barber cutting the hair of people in a heavy rain, went viral and gained millions of views. Kehkashan knew that apart from all those traditional, heavy, and sad News, people love watching happy and unique News, too.
After Duniya News, Kehkashan Bukhari joined different news channels, such as New TV, Metro One News, and Seven News.
Kehkashan Bukhari Worked in Seven News
Seven News was a Lahore-based channel that had such a low budget that they did not even have a proper channel; in fact, they used to broadcast on social media. Kehkashan learned a lot while she was in Seven News, as she was the most knowledgeable over there; basically, she was the queen of the channel. One day, the head of Kehkashan asked her to cover political beats. Being less experienced, Kehkashan questioned if she was even capable of doing that. She has only covered light packages till now, such as weathering, etc.
It was a press conference of ex-prime minister Mr. Khaqan Abbassi. Kehkashan Bukhari was there too, as the only female news reporter among many guys. When no one let Kehkashan Bukhari speak, Marium Aurangzeb, a senior personality of the Muslim League, acknowledged her presence, and this was the moment when Kehkashan Bukhari realized that she had achieved something in her life.
Kehkashan Bukhari appointed by GEO News
After some time, Kehkashan Bukhari, who used to work for a small news channel based in Lahore, got appointed by one of the biggest news channels of Pakistan GEO News. She was the first female reporter to switch from television to the digital world. Geo gave wings to Kehkashan, it taught her to speak, how to talk, even how to walk. Digital reporting gave Kehkashan freedom of creativity. After spending a good amount of time in political reporting, Kehkashan was asked to switch her reporting genre to entertainment.
The entertainment industry was a tricky one to handle, as Kehkashan had to approach different celebrities and convince them to give an interview, which should not sound like a traditional interview but more like a casual one. Kehkashan worked hard day and night and made her segment one of the most watched segments of GEO digital that had millions of views.
