Fahad Khalil is a dental implant specialist and a clinician whose main inspiration and goal is to serve and treat patients. He believes that dentistry itself is treated as taboo as people believe that dentists are not doctors. Fahad totally opposes this view and believes that dentistry is one of the most humble and noble professions.
“We are taught as a doctor, we are taught as a psychiatrist, we are taught as nutritionists, and we are taught as artists. Dentistry is a bundle of all these professions combined.”
According to him, there is a greater number of women doing dentistry than men because nowadays, people require a daughter-in-law who is a doctor by profession and can make round rotis. This is the only reason why many girls go for a medical career. Fahad says that women are brilliant artists. Their keen eye and observation are something men don’t usually have. It’s just that they are confused and not being motivated.
“You work so hard and spend so much money only to become a doctor’s daughter-in-law; I think that’s not even worth it. Do what you feel like doing and find your interests.”
Fahad Khalil’s Personality
Fahad Khalil was never a very passionate and hard-working kind of person, but when he thinks of doing something, he makes sure he does it successfully. What inspired him to become a dentist was one of his uncles, who always owned the best car and lived a very luxurious life. His uncle was a dentist. This made Fahad believe that dentists were more like money-making machines.
Fahad says that this is the exact mindset the young generation has today: ‘Make as much money as you can in a short span of time.’ They have zero patience, zero tolerance, and high expectations. It always creates hurdles because anything that comes early goes off early. There is always a route that is steady and slow. Fahad believes that you will not get everything in a golden spoon.
Fahad Khalil went to Germany for post graduation:
After graduating from Fatima Jinnah Dental College, he went for his post graduation from the University of Frankfurt, Germany. There was no language barrier since it was an English-taught program and he got acquainted with many people from around the world. He says that people think that he has spent a lot of money, but he believes it is important to spend money because of the time we are living in.
“Without investments, everything is really difficult. Education is always a good investment as it will somehow always benefit you. At this time, the fee for dentistry is more than 20 lacs per annum. If you have an interest, try to evaluate your interest and try to work on those interests from day one.”
What Fahad Khalil Believes
Fahad believes that it is very important to have a mentor in life who can guide you through things that seem impossible. He says that children nowadays think that they know everything. Whatever decisions they make or do is always right and best. He says that you cannot groom until and unless you take criticism.
He is an avid believer in the fact that if you want to be a good dentist, you also have to be good at communicating because when you interact with the patient, he should forget half of his pain just by talking. So, you need to learn psychotherapy in any medical profession. For Fahad, real success is the smile of his patient after getting a painful treatment.
“But do you know what we get after this much hard work? It is the beautiful smiles of the patients. We have given confidence to the patients. It is worth it for all the efforts and investments you have made and the time you have given.”
